Level 6 Higher Certificate in Engineering in Agricultural Mechanisation.
Course modules are varied including a wide range of information including Health and Safety, the repair of a wide range of Agricultural machinery, including workshop practices, engines, electronics, services, repair and diagnosis of hydraulic and transmission systems. The course delivers both the theoretical and practical based sessions at our industry standard training facilities and equipment.
This award meets the training requirements for stamp duty exemption and DAFM schemes.
Course Length
36 weeks approximately in college on a block release programme over a total duration of 3 years. This enables work-based learning and experience to be gained whilst working at your AGCO dealership.
The college blocks are at Salesian Agricultural College, Pallaskenry, County Limerick, Ireland and the Technical University of Shannon (TUS). Enhancements include additional bespoke technical product training with AGCO, delivered at AGCO’s training centre or at the college.
Entry Requirements
There is a direct entry format whereby candidates will be assessed by Salesian Agricultural College and TUS staff for grades/predicted grades in English and Maths together with an interview process that includes practical, attitude and aptitude tests. The decision of the College staff will be final.
The student will need to be employed by an AGCO dealer or employed by a SME as approved by AGCO.

You will receive a range of qualifications as part of your learning programme which include:
- Level 6 Higher Certificate in Engineering and Agricultural Mechanisation
- Agricultural Engineering skills
- Essential skills in numeracy, literacy and IT
- Additional non/legislative qualifications may include telescopic handler, abrasive wheels, FLT, first aid and welding etc.
- Run by AGCO trained lecturers and instructors
- Monitors your progress at work and at college to uphold and exceed all required national standards and qualifications
- Gives apprentices additional soft skills to help in the work place
- The College is working with a range of industry and awarding bodies to ensure that the content is relevant to the industry
- Includes Manufacturer Technical Training at AGCO’s training academy
- Broad range of machinery accessed to ensure apprentices are working on the latest technology where appropriate
